IT systems for HDR students

You will manage your candidature in two key systems: and . â¶Ä¯

  • Request an extension 
  • Request a suspension 
  • Apply for paid leave (maternity/sick leave) Ìý
  • Apply for leave of absence 
  • Make changes to the supervisory team 
  • Make changes to your mode of attendance
  • Track your milestones and goalsÌý
  • Track progress and meetings
  • Submit your thesis

Sydney Student is used to:
Ìý
  • Re-enrol in your course each calendar year 
  • Apply for Counting Time Away 
  • Apply for a Course Transfer (MPhil/PhD) 
  • Enrol in Units of Ïã½¶Ö±²¥ (UoS) 
  • Revise your thesis title 
  • Withdraw from candidature

You may also need to use the following systems for specific tasks during your HDR journey:

  • – setting up an online profile is a great way to highlight your research and advance your professional standing. â¶Ä¯
  • - for coursework-related activities. 
  • Canvas – for mandatory online training modules.Ìý Unit of study material is also provided via Canvas.
  • Sydney Timetable - for accessing semester timetable for coursework units of study 
  •  – HDR candidates can use Concur to submit expenses or travel expenses. â¶Ä¯Any HDR student requiring assistance with Concur should call 8627 4000 and follow the prompts to select Option 2.

Faculty and school resources

Each HDR student has access to discipline-specific support via their faculty or school HDR site in Canvas.

Explore your faculty/school’s HDR site to get familiar with discipline-specific requirements and opportunities, orientation arrangements and support contacts. Faculty announcements and events may be shared via these sites as well as through faculty HDR e-newsletters.

All currently enrolled HDR students are enrolled into their faculty or school’s HDR site in (the University’s online learning platform).Ìý

Your faculty/school HDR site will appear on your Canvas dashboard. If the site is not on your dashboard, click the 'Courses' icon in the navigation pane on the left-hand side to locate the site.Ìý
