1.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Background
a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý This Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to students studying a Master of Bioethics at the University of Sydney.
2.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Eligibility
a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission, or currently enrolled in a Master of Bioethics at the University of Sydney.
b.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Applicants who are Fee-HELP deferred students are not eligible for this scholarship.
3.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Selection Criteria
a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of merit relative to opportunity demonstrated in:
Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý I.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý a special research project plan submission, and
Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý II.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý personal statement outlining the applicant’s case for the scholarship, their potential relative to opportunity, and, if applicable, details of structural or personal adversity.
b.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship will be awarded by the Head of School of the School of Public Health, or their nominated delegate(s).
4.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Value
a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship is valued at $7,500 and is tenable for one full-time semester.
b.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Where the recipient is studying part-time, the amount awarded for each relevant semester will be 50% of the full-time rate and the Scholarship will be tenable for two part-time semesters within the same calendar year.
c.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship value will be paid directly towards the student’s tuition fees of the applicable semester.
d.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý If the student’s tuition fees are less than the scholarship value for the relevant semester, the scholarship value will be equal to the student’s tuition fee.
e.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Deferral or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted. The Scholarship cannot be transferred to another University school or Faculty.
f.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
g.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý No other amount is payable.
5.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Termination
a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
Ìý Ìý ÌýI.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý withdraws, suspends or fails to enrol in their course,
Ìý Ìý ÌýII.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
Ìý Ìý ÌýIII.Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìýaccepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $8,000 per annum or more for the same purpose as this Scholarship.
b.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.Ìý
c.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
