About us

Along with study and research, the Angkor Research Program creates business opportunities for Australian industry and develops teaching resources for Australia's high school curriculum.Ìý

Our primary focus is the spatial organisation, operation, social life, development and demise of Angkor in its ecological and contemporary context, along with exploring Cambodia's place in the modern world. We connect disciplines across the University in arts, science, agriculture, medicine and law.Ìý

The University has established collaborative research agreements for ongoing research at Angkor with:

  • the Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap (the Cambodian national agency that manages Angkor); and
  • École Française d'Extrême Orient (the French research agency that has studied Angkor for more than a century).

As well as research publications, seminars and conference presentations, the program generates considerable international interest and has also produced an integrated database and map system for the management of Angkor.
