The Charles Perkins Centre would not be possible without the generous support of our donors. The unique research and teaching created by the centre have inspired many far-sighted philanthropists to make significant contributions towards our work. These include establishing a record number of academic chairs, providing scholarships for our brightest students and supporting our people to transform research into results.
With every gift to the Charles Perkins Centre our donors become part of a pursuit of ideas that will shape the world in which we live in.Ìý

Diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseaseÌýare the leading causes of death, disability and reduced quality of life in Australia.
In 2022, 66 percent of Australian adults aged 18 or over, were overweight or living with obesity, representing approximately 13 million adults.
Obesity is a serious global health issue affecting more than 1 billion individuals globally, which has more than doubled since 1990. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally. These lifestyle diseases have a considerable impact on individuals, families, the healthcare system and society.
That’s why the Charles Perkins Centre is taking a radically different approach to these chronic diseases, bringing together researchers from different fields and putting the focus on generating practical solutions that can be easily utilised by the community.
The Charles Perkins Centre conducts a wide range of research pertinent to the prevention, treatment and support of people living obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and their related diseases. To find out more about our research, which you can support, view ourÌýcurrent researchÌý±è²¹²µ±ð.Ìý
All research that occurs at the Charles Perkins Centre is aimed at improving human health. But to do this, we need to transform our discoveries and solutions into usable products in the community. One way the Charles Perkins Centre does this is though The Incubator Fund, which provides funding to help us translate our research into commercial solutions.Ìý
Early career researchers are fully qualified researchers, who are just beginning to forge their research careers. They bring with them vitally important new ideas to long-standing problems and a strong passion to get their research off the ground.Ìý
