Our research programme lies at the nexus of what is current and what is possible for the immediate and long-term health of women, families and babies.

We address important and unanswered questions covering a broad range from preconception including assisted reproductive technology, through reproductive health and pregnancy to neonatal care. We encourage patient participation in clinical trials and research opportunities to improve long-term health outcomes for women, families and babies.

Our work extends from discovery science to translational research programmes. We aim to develop novel approaches to improve fertility, pregnancy and neonatal outcomes for large and increasingly diverse reproductive populations.

Research cross-cutting domains

Our research themes are intersected by four cross-cutting domains:

  • Population health: We aim to use population-based data science to inform and improve fertility and pregnancy outcomes, evaluate interventions and drive quality improvements in the provision of care.
  • Discovery science: We aim to understand the mechanisms leading to failure in conception and adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes in our local and global community, including high-risk populations.
  • Research translation: We aim to develop timely, cost-effective and acceptable innovations and improvements to inform clinical practice, guide service delivery and improve health care policy for care of women and babies across the health system including primary care.
  • Global health: We aim to contribute to the improvements in perinatal health regionally and globally.
