Established in 2006, the Cancer Research Network is designed to foster communication, collaboration and translation in cancer research among its members, with the aim of:

• connecting researchers throughout the University of Sydney and its affiliated institutes and institutions, building a sense of community across disciplines and geographical barriers
• increasing awareness of, and capacity for, collaboration across disciplines
• encouraging more high-quality cancer research
• placing a strong emphasis on research translation
• building research infrastructure and assets
• increasing internal and external research funding
• building research capacity in areas of need or priority, with a focus on achieving international excellence in areas of strength
• facilitating networking and the establishment of mentoring relationships with experienced researchers
• showcasing cancer research at the University of Sydney, communicating achievements to the University, government and the people.

The generation of new research ideas is a core value of the University of Sydney Cancer Research Network, and collaboration is at the heart of every project.

Membership is open to academic staff, employees of teaching hospitals and affiliated research bodies, or those with an academic title award from the University of Sydney.

Membership is also extended to postdoctoral fellows and postgraduate research students enrolled at the University of Sydney who have a current or potential research interest in the area of cancer.

By linking together curious minds in cancer research, our aim is to achieve excellence in moving research discoveries from the laboratory into clinical practice.

As a member of the Cancer Research Network, you will have access to research infrastructure and enhanced opportunities for collaboration with University colleagues.

Members also receive regular email updates with the latest discoveries, news, events and funding opportunities relevant to cancer research.

As a member, you can benefit from the avaliability of funding for conference sponsorships. This aims to facilitate our members' participation in conferences relevant to research activities and strength of the CRN. The Cancer Research Network is a network within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney and with support from the FMH Networks Office.  It consists of the Chair, CRN Leadership Group and the Members.
