Who we are

Sydney Analytical is the University’s flagship facility for chemical, biological and materials analysis. We offer researchers and industry high end capability in vibrational spectroscopy, magnetic resonance, X-ray diffraction and scattering, protein production and characterisation, and drug discovery.

We act as the primary interface between the University and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), supporting neutron and synchrotron research; Sydney Analytical also assists University facilities funded by ARC and NHMRC grants, and it aims to expand its global research support.

Our experts help you get the most from our state–of-the-art tools and techniques.

When writing up your research please remember to acknowledge the role of our facilities and expertise.

Acknowledgments demonstrate that investments in equipment and people have led to important outcomes. Your publications, presentations, and posters are a vital part of the business case for ongoing funding of Sydney Analytical.

Here are sample statements of acknowledgement:

  • "The authors acknowledge the facilities and the scientific and technical assistance of Sydney Analytical, a core research facility at The University of Sydney.”
  • “This research was facilitated by access to Sydney Analytical, a core research facility at the University of Sydney”
  • “We thank <insert name(s) of staff member(s)> for assistance and advice with <insert type of work> that was carried out at Sydney Analytical, a core research facility at the University of Sydney.”
