Successful applicants of the Major Industrial Project Placement Scheme (MIPPS) will be awarded this Scholarship.
This scholarship is valued at $22,750 and is tenable for 6 months.

This Scholarship was established by the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering to support outstanding senior students enrolled in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering to complete a high-level industrial project during a full-time six-month industry placement within the Major Industrial Project Placement Scheme (MIPPS).
The projects are established with academic involvement through associate supervision from the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The work undertaken incorporates all the curriculum requirements of the relevant courses and participants will complete their studies in the usual time from first enrolment.
1. Background
a. This Scholarship was established by the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering to support outstanding senior students enrolled in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering to complete a high-level industrial project during a full-time six-month industry placement within the Major Industrial Project Placement Scheme (MIPPS).
b. The projects are established with academic involvement through associate supervision from the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The work undertaken incorporates all the curriculum requirements of the relevant courses and participants will complete their studies in the usual time from first enrolment.
2. Eligibility
a. Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney and proceeding into the following year of their study at the time of the MIPPS placement, specifically:
I. fourth or fifth year of an undergraduate degree (including combined degrees),
II. final year of the Master of Professional Engineering degree (MPE) in either Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering or Sustainability and Environmental Engineering, or
III. final semester of the Master of Engineering (Chemical and Biomolecular) (ME) or Master of Engineering (Sustainability and Environmental Engineering) degree.
b. Applicants must be on track to meet the prerequisites and have obtained department permission to enrol in the required unit of study CHNG4203/CHNG5205.
c. Applicants must have:
I. an honours weighted average mark (HWAM) of at least 75 if enrolled in an undergraduate coursework degree, or
II. a weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 75 if enrolled in a postgraduate coursework degree.
d. Undergraduate coursework applicants meeting the requirements in 2a and 2b but with an HWAM of at least 70 will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to academic and program requirements.
e. Applicants must agree to comply with the University of Sydney Student Placement and Projects Policy.
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. academic merit, and
II. curriculum vitae, and
III. a personal statement detailing the applicantās interests and achievements and how the placement will benefit both the applicant and the industry partner.
b. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview and an assessment of their performance will include feedback from industry and academic representatives.
c. The Scholarship will be awarded on the nomination of the MIPPS selection committee chaired by the Head of School, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, or their nominated delegate.
4. Value
a. The Scholarship is valued at $22,750 and is paid in equal monthly instalments for the duration of the placement which is 6 months.
b. Industry Partners may, where the placement is to be conducted outside of Sydney, provide separate additional financial assistance for the purposes of transport and accommodation.
c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted under any circumstances.
d. The Scholarship is not transferable to another school, faculty or university.
e. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
f. No other amount is payable.
5. Ongoing eligibility
a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain satisfactory performance on the industry project.
b. Recipients must enrol in and continue to meet the full-time requirements of the 24-credit point unit of study CHNG4203/ CHNG5205.
6. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. withdraws from a required unit of study (CHNG4203/CHNG5205),
III. fails to comply with the University of Sydney Student Placement and Projects Policy,
IV. does not complete or meet the requirements of their placement,
V. commences part-time study or does not maintain satisfactory performance on the project,
VI. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application, or
VII. is awarded or is in receipt of an alternative primary scholarship of $8,500 or above administered by the University of Sydney.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
7. Confidentiality, Intellectual Property and Insurance
a. The successful recipient of this Scholarship must complete a Student Deed Poll supplied by the University of Sydney, within which the terms of these items will be specified.
b. The recipient must also abide by all the terms and conditions outlined in the Student Deed Poll.
8. Other Requirements
a. Recipients must comply with the University of Sydney Student Placement and Projects Policy whilst on this Scholarship.
b. The Placement does not create an employment relationship between any of the participating parties, nor does it create any future employment relationship.
c. If recipients receive another primary scholarship, they must inform the Scholarships Office, in writing at scholarships.office@sydney.edu.au, within one week of learning about it. Before accepting the alternative scholarship, they must provide details and conditions of the scholarship for review. Approval to continue receiving this Scholarship will depend on confirming that the new scholarship conditions will not affect the recipientās ability to complete their MIPPS program.
