New SEI event series explores the importance of climate justice

3 April 2025
SEI's Climate Justice Series will feature four panel discussions.
SEI launches the Climate Justice Series with panel discussions addressing the intensifying climate, nature, housing, and social justice crises, where the question is not whether we act, but how we do so in ways that are just, inclusive, and transformative.

The Sydney Environment Institute is pleased to announce its new panel series, the Climate Justice Series, which brings together leading thinkers and practitioners to explore the urgent intersections of climate action, equity and systemic change.

The series will explore the complex intersections of climate action, equity, and systemic change, challenging dominant narratives and proposing bold pathways toward a more just and sustainable future.

The series will feature four panels throughout the year covering conversations on balancing the urgency of rapid transformation with the need for trust-building and justice, reimagining governance that includes more-than-human perspectives, unpacking what ‘nature positive’ means for conservation, and exploring alternatives to growth-driven economies.

Join us on Monday 28 April, 5:30pm for the opening panel which will feature leading voices as they discuss Australia’s urgent climate, housing and energy challenges, exploring solutions through inclusive decision-making, First Nations leadership, and innovative design to drive sustainable, equitable change for all.

“SEI’s work on environmental and climate justice is globally recognised and cited, including by the OECD and IPCC,” shares SEI’s Director Professor David Schlosberg. “This series continues our engagement with community, governmental, and private partners to discuss and impact what justice-based responses to climate change can address.”

By convening policymakers, researchers, community leaders, and activists, the series aims to generate new ideas and strategies that challenge conventional approaches and centre justice in climate solutions.

SEI invites audiences to participate in these crucial conversations and contribute to shaping a thriving future for our planet. Make sure to subscribe to our newsletter as more information about the upcoming panels are released.
