Our successful collaborations

As a leading international centre of thought leadership in the areas of transport, logistics and supply chain management, we have been involved in many successful collaborative relationships spanning the private and public sectors. Some recent partnerships include:

  • Contributing to research on how Mobility as a Service and Mobility as a Feature can improve the transport user experience and benefit communities with IAG, Skedgo. Transport for NSW. Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland, Catapult, BusNSW, BusVic, Busways.
  • Working with the Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland to develop a centralised trip/parking generation database that can also facilitate the design, implementation, and validation of GTPs.
  • Partnering with Intelligent Transport Systems Australia Inc, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts and the Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland to understand the attitudes and actions that are best likely to deliver actual change to a more sustainable transport system.
  • Working with the Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland to study effective low fare public transport on a large-scale, understanding travel patterns and budgetary pressures. It will position Queensland as a leader in low flat fare public transport experience.
  • Transport modelling projects with DAT.Mobility.
  • A collaborative project with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts designing, testing, and validating a pilot methodology for harvesting activity data of active road users – pedestrians, cyclists, and other personal mobility devices.
  • Advising the private bus sector on aspects of government interaction.
  • Guiding Australia’s procurement sector on the setting and improvement of their industry standards.
  • Providing input to the New South Wales long-term transport master plan.
  • Conducting a valuation and impact analysis on Sydney’s proposed heavy rail and bus rapid transit system network.
  • Analysing of high-speed rail viability with both public and private organisations.

When it came to upgrading the skills of key traffic operators and planners at the Roads and Traffic Authority of NSW, seeking input from the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies was an obvious choice. The long term partnership has resulted in a series of specialised study programs that have helped improve staff skill levels and assisted the organisation in addressing its many challenges.
