Data Science Hub at the Charles Perkins Centre

Collaborative context-specific data analysis
The Data Science Hub advances data-intensive research with a direct translational impact in biomedical, metabolomics health, epidemiological research, and beyond.

The Data Science Hub is a collaborative partnership with the Charles Perkins Centre and Sydney Precision Data Science Centre, co-funded by the Charles Perkins Centre's Jennie Mackenzie Research Fund, the Faculty of Medicine and Health and Faculty of Science.ÌýÌý

The Data Science Hub advances data-intensive research with a direct translational impact in biomedical, metabolomics health, epidemiological research, and beyond. We specialise in context-specific data analysis for high-throughput biomedical data generated by scientists.Ìý

The Data Science Hub is committed to:ÌýÌý

  • supporting early- and mid-career researchers (EMCRs) by providing expert consultation, training, and resources within a collaborative ecosystemÌý
  • enhancing translational impact to support the mission of the CPCÌý
  • serving as a central data analytics repository to build capacity and share knowledge across the universityÌý
  • specialising in large-population database analysis.Ìý

The Data Science Hub is led by inaugural director, Professor Jean Yang, the theme leader of Integrative systems and modelling at the Charles Perkins Centre with Dr Alistair Senior as the deputy director. Both leaders are dedicated to fostering a vibrant interdisciplinary hub with opportunities for meaningful impact and collaboration.

About us Ìý

At the Data Science Hub, we go beyond single inputs to explore the interactions among genetic and multiple environmental variables on health outcomes. Our iterative and collaborative approach leverages advanced data science techniques to provide tailored solutions, including:Ìý

  • experimental design consultationÌý
  • advanced data analysis and modellingÌý
  • upskilling and training opportunitiesÌý
  • support for grant applications and research projects.Ìý

Working with usÌý

Whether you need guidance on study design, data interpretation, or computational methods, we are here to support your research and drive impact.ÌýÌý

If you’re interested in working with the data hub or finding out more, here’s how it works:Ìý

  • submit an to get startedÌý
  • if your project aligns with our scope, we’ll schedule a free 60-minute consultation to discuss your needs.ÌýÌý
  • based on our discussion, we’ll prepare a tailored proposal outlining how we can support your project, which may look like:ÌýÌý
  • Level one (one day of data science work): you may receive support for a grant application, supervision, or a comprehensive analytical report.Ìý
  • Level two (more than one day of data science work): outcomes could include an in-depth analytical report or skill development through hands-on collaboration with the Data Science Hub.
