1.听听听听听 Background

a.听听听听听 This Scholarship was established in 2020 to provide assistance to students undertaking a Summer Research Project at the Image X Institute.

b.听听听听听 This Scholarship is funded from either the NHMRC Investigator Grant for the project Cancer Imaging and Targeted Radiation Therapy: From Discovery to Clinical Practice or the NHMRC Investigator Grant for the project Advancing dynamic MRI to enable adaptive lung radiotherapy.

2.听听听听听 Eligibility

a. Applicants must be currently enrolled at the University of Sydney.

b. Applicants must satisfy one of the below criteria:

听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 I.听听听听听听听听听 are currently in at least their second year of their undergraduate degree and will not complete their degree before March 2026 or

听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 II.听听听听听听听听听 are currently in at least their first year of their Masters by coursework degree and will not complete their degree before March 2026.

c. Applicants must have an academic background in:

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 I. mathematics,

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听II. physics (including medical physics),

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 III. computer science, or

听 听 听 听 听 听 听 IV. engineering (biomedical, mechatronics, or electrical).

d. Applicants must have previous research experience or express an interest in research.

e.听Applicants must be available to conduct research full-time (35 hours per week) in one of the identified summer research projects available at the Image X Institute over an 8-week period

f.听听听听听听 Applicants must conduct the project on-site, for safety reasons. Hybrid working preferences could be accommodated where project needs allow but applicants must be available to work on-site in business hours for at least four days a week.

3.听听听听听 Selection Criteria

a.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 I.听听听听听听听听听 academic merit,

听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 II.听听听听听听听听听 a personal statement outlining the applicant鈥檚 background, experience and interest in research,

听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 III.听听听听听听听听听听 curriculum vitae, and

b.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be awarded by a selection committee consisting of the supervisory team of each project.

4.听听听听听 Value

a.听听听听听 The Scholarship is valued at $6,424.00 and is tenable for eight weeks.

b.听听听听听 The Scholarship value will be paid in two equal instalments at the beginning and end of the summer research project.

c.听听听听听 Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.

d.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e.听听听听听 No other amount is payable.

5.听听听听听 Termination

a.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 I.听听听听听听听听听 withdraws from the approved summer research project,

听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 II.听听听听听听听听听 does not maintain satisfactory academic performance or conduct during the project,

听听听听听听听听听听听听听 III.听听听听听听听听听 is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application, or

听听听听听听听听听听听听听 IV.听听听听听听听听听 does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.

b.听听听听听 Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.听听

c.听听听听听 Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.

6.听听听听听 Reporting

a.听听听听听 Recipients of this Scholarship are required to submit a report and complete a presentation on their research at the end of their project.
